Fire Rescue Operations

The operations personnel consist of women and men dedicated to responding to emergencies year-round, 365 days a year. Led by a Deputy Chief, they are based out of three stations, with plans for two additional stations underway. The on-duty staff includes a Battalion Chief, two engine companies, and one truck (ladder) company. Additionally, a cooperative agreement allows for a part-time engine company at Station 3, staffed by the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control. FRFR participates in several Automatic Aid agreements with our neighbors to ensure that the closest units respond to a call, regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.

In our district, we handle all medical emergencies with our ambulance partners. A significant portion of the area is serviced by the University of Colorado EMS (UCH EMS) system, which works alongside our units to ensure a prompt and efficient response. For the section of our district located in Larimer County, Thompson Valley Health Services District provides emergency medical coverage through TVEMS ambulances. Medical calls constitute approximately 60% of our annual call volume.

Furthermore, the operations section encompasses our training personnel, ensuring our team is well-prepared for diverse scenarios. Each member receives extensive training in areas such as fire suppression, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and various special operations, including hazardous materials management. On average, each member engages in over 200 hours of training annually to maintain high standards of safety and effectiveness in their roles.
