At Front Range Fire Rescue, protecting our firefighters means looking beyond the incident scene and addressing long-term health risks, especially occupational cancer.
Our newest Innotex bunker gear and other components incorporate advanced cancer-prevention design features, including improved particulate barriers, enhanced moisture protection, and construction intended to reduce exposure to carcinogens encountered on the fireground. These improvements are part of a broader, intentional effort to limit contamination, support effective decontamination, and protect our members during and after every call.
That commitment to firefighter health and safety was recently recognized with the Gold Helmet Award, honoring departments that take meaningful, proactive steps to reduce occupational cancer risk. FRFR joins 5 other Colorado fire departments with this award.
We are proud of our team for embracing this mindset and grateful for the leadership, education, and cultural shift that continue to make cancer prevention a priority at FRFR, because taking care of our people is just as important as taking care of our community.
