Fire Prevention Week October 6-12, 2024

October 6, 2024, kicks off Fire Prevention Week. This year’s campaign, “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work For You!” strives to educate everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home. Key messages this year include the following:
🚨Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement) of the home.
🚨Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button.

🚨Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old or don’t respond when tested.

National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend

Each year, thousands attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Firefighters and families participate in the national tribute to all firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year.
